Jaxson Barham

20 May 1988
2007 NAB AFL Draft Pick No. 61

Jaxson is a hard running and quick defender who was recruited by Collingwood under the father-son rule. Jaxson’s dad Ricky played 151 games for Collingwood in a career stretching from 1977 to 1986 and is now part of Sydney’s recruiting team.

Standing at 182cm, the hard-running midfielder is blessed with the same lightning pace his father had, but his desire to have both feet planted on a surfboard more often than not saw him playing his early football with Lorne in the local league.

In 2008, Barham played 14 games for the VFL in a running midfielder/defender role averaging 16 disposals and four marks. He made outstanding progress as the season wore on, and was an emergency for the Fremantle game in round 22.

Jaxson stated off his 2009 AFL season on a positive note, by being awarded with a NAB Rising Star Nomination in his debutant game, during their round four clash against the Lions.

A continually improving player with tremendous development potential, Jaxson has natural ability, excellent speed and enormous endurance.
